It's no secret that Monster Hunter: World's weapon designs weren't universally loved. Many fans questioned whether Monster Hunter Rise would suffer the same fate. While initial glimpses of Rise's weapons offered limited insight, Director Yuya Tokuda has now clarified the design philosophy.
Regarding the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda stated: "Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Rise, each weapon has its own unique design."
This directly addresses concerns about design similarity. Unlike *World*, where many weapon lines, even at their highest upgrade levels, shared similar aesthetics (as seen below comparing the Aqua and Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the Bone and Jyuratodus Long Swords), *Rise* boasts entirely unique weapon designs.Monster Hunter Rise Weapons
