Antonov's journey began in Sofia, Bulgaria. After moving to Paris, he entered the video game industry in the mid-90s at Xatrix Entertainment (later Gray Matter Studios). His career skyrocketed as he became a key creative force behind Half-Life 2 at Valve, most notably designing the unforgettable City 17. He later contributed his artistic genius to Dishonored at Arkane Studios, co-creating the captivating city of Dunwall.

Beyond video games, Antonov's talent extended to animation, with co-author credits on Renaissance and The Prodigies. He also worked at the independent production company Darewise Entertainment. In a Reddit AMA eight years prior to his passing, Antonov discussed his career path, revealing his background in transportation design and advertising before finding his true calling in the then-nascent video game industry.
