Many Marvel Rivals players on PC experience frustratingly long shader compilation times upon launch. This guide offers a solution to significantly reduce this delay.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game launches, especially online titles, often involve extended loading screens. However, Marvel Rivals' lengthy shader compilation process (sometimes exceeding several minutes) is proving problematic for PC users.

Shaders are crucial programs managing aspects like color, lighting, and shadows in 3D environments. Incorrect shader installation can lead to various issues. While players may have followed all instructions correctly, this shader compilation bottleneck persists. Fortunately, a community-discovered workaround exists.

A Marvel Rivals subreddit user, Recent-Smile-4946, provided a solution that effectively addresses the slow compilation:

  1. Access Nvidia Control Panel: Locate and open your Nvidia control panel.
  2. Adjust Shader Cache Size: Navigate to the global settings and find the Shader Cache Size option.
  3. Set a Lower Value: Set the Shader Cache Size to a value less than or equal to your VRAM. Note: Only three options (5 GB, 10 GB, and 100 GB) are typically available; select the closest appropriate size for your VRAM.

This method reportedly reduces shader compilation time to mere seconds and resolves "Out of VRAM memory" errors.

While some players might prefer to await an official patch from NetEase, the developer hasn't yet acknowledged the issue. To avoid extended loading times, consider trying this workaround.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
