UltiZero Games' highly anticipated title, Lost Soul Aside, will launch with a frustrating region lock, mirroring Sony's ongoing limitations on the availability of its PC releases. SteamDB data confirms the game's inaccessibility in over 130 countries, all lacking PlayStation Network (PSN) support.

While a PSN account isn't required to play Lost Soul Aside, the region lock prevents the game from appearing on Steam in these unsupported regions. Players in affected areas must circumvent this by creating a Steam account registered in a PSN-supported country, a cumbersome workaround. This is particularly perplexing given PlayStation's recent removal of PSN requirements for its other PC titles. The resulting backlash from PC gamers is substantial, with widespread negative feedback on social media and forums, leading many to boycott the game.

Lost Soul Aside: A Blend of Fantasy and Realism

Since its 2016 announcement, Lost Soul Aside has maintained its unique blend of fantasy elements and realistic visuals. UltiZero Games CEO Yang Bing discussed the game's artistic vision in a February 20, 2025 IGN interview.

Bing confirmed the consistent artistic direction since the initial 2016 trailer, including the fast-paced, visually striking combat. He noted influences from other games encountered during development, but emphasized the core style remained unchanged. The character design, particularly protagonist Kaser, exemplifies this blend, showcasing cartoonish features alongside realistic texturing.

Influences from Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, and More

Lost Soul Aside's development drew inspiration from several prominent Japanese action titles, including Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry. In a February 20, 2025 Famitsu interview, Bing detailed these influences.

Kaser's design, he explained, reflects the significant influence of the Final Fantasy series, combining realistic and fantasy elements in clothing and character modeling. The fast-paced, stylish combat system, however, takes cues from Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry, offering a deep and customizable experience for players regardless of skill level.
