bimmer-tool empowers you to diagnose and address issues in your BMW, offering comprehensive functionality for reading and clearing fault codes, initiating DPF regeneration, accessing live engine data, and much more. While its capabilities are extensive, functionality for pre-2008 models is somewhat limited, and a K+DCan USB cable connection is strongly recommended for optimal performance. Wireless ELM adapter connectivity might be unreliable or offer restricted functionality on these older vehicles.
Essential Note: A reliable OBD adapter is crucial for bimmer-tool's operation. We recommend using a K+DCan cable, an ENET adapter (for F/G series), or one of the Bluetooth adapters listed below:
- Vgate vLinker MC/FS/BM/FD: https://www.vgatemall.com/products/
- UniCarScan UCSI-2000/USCI-2100 (Set D-Can mode to MODE2): https://www.wgsoft.de/shop/obd-2-komplettsysteme/unicarscan/114/unicarscan-ucsi-2000-diagnoseadapter https://www.bmdiag.co.uk/unicarscan-ucsi-2000-bluetooth-obd2-adapter

Quick Start Guide:
- Connect adapter to the OBD II port.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Connect the adapter to your phone (USB: Use USB-OTG; Bluetooth: Pair via phone settings; WiFi: Disable mobile data, connect to adapter's WiFi).
- Launch the app, select your car's model and year.
- Navigate to 'Connection,' choose the connection type, adapter type, and communication protocol.
- Tap 'Connect'.
**Limitations:** For models before 2008 and e46/e39/e83/e53, a K+DCan cable is required, and only the engine ECU is supported. Wireless ELM adapter connectivity may be impossible.
Common Issues:
- Engine 'No response' error (pre-2007, BT/WiFi): Try selecting ATWM in advanced connection settings.
- No connection: Ensure correct adapter and protocol settings. If the issue persists, force-stop diagnostic apps (including bimmer-tool) or restart your phone.
Permission Rationale:
- Storage: USB adapter support.
- Photos/Media/Files: CSV file creation.
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth adapter support.
- Network Access: WiFi adapter support.
- Location: Not used by the app.
What's New in Version 3.7.6-L (Nov 10, 2024):
