Escape the Cursed Forest: A Simple Non-Combat RPG

Prologue: You're the village's best hunter, drawn to a national hunting tournament near the royal capital. Upon arriving and camping for the night, you awaken to find the tournament grounds deserted. All that remains are the remnants of a large hunter encampment. National guards, responsible for overseeing the tournament, are nowhere to be found. Your attempts to return to the forest entrance prove futile; you're inexplicably lost. This isn't just disorientation; something is profoundly wrong.

What is the "Elven Curse"?

This non-combat RPG casts you as a hunter attempting to escape a cursed forest. Gameplay is streamlined, utilizing a maximum of three buttons (excluding the base menu).

Character Creation: While character customization is limited, you can freely reroll your stats. Status increase rates upon leveling up are only visible on this screen and cannot be checked in-game. This information serves as a return item. Losing all your life force results in character death, unless you possess at least two talismans.

Foria, the Peddler Quarter-Elf: A mysterious boy (or perhaps something more) encountered in the forest. Despite his childlike appearance, he claims to be older than the protagonist and secretly aids your escape using the forest's ancient spirits.

Game World & Narrative: The prologue unfolds like a visual story, with Foria's dialogue maintaining a cheerful tone. The game world is depicted through understated, evocative language.

Exploration Mode: Progress involves exploring unexplored areas within each section of the forest. Exploration success rates depend on "fog depth" and the protagonist's stats. If your life force is depleted, use poison or rare talismans to restore it, or return to Foria.

Beast Encounters & Hunter Battles: The forest is inhabited by various creatures, from wolves to surprisingly aggressive frogs and rabbits. Defeating them yields hides for trading with Foria. Unlike traditional RPGs, combat is not for leveling up; it's a means of acquiring resources. All battles are avoidable, though this requires either luck or strategic gameplay.

As a hunter, you use a bow and arrow. Maintaining distance allows for attacks without counterattacks, but closing the distance leaves you vulnerable. When at range, you can also use wound medicine. If overwhelmed, you can choose to withdraw (with a chance of failure) or use a flash ball provided by Foria for a guaranteed escape.

Cloak & Layering System: Using gathered materials, you can craft a cloak to enhance your abilities. Up to three layers can be added, with the total ability increase being the sum of each layer. However, the top layer can be damaged and rendered unusable. The bow and arrow remain unchanged.

Game Features:

  • Simple, intuitive gameplay.
  • Random skill selection.
  • A blend of reflexes, strategy, skill, and luck.
  • Material gathering, synthesis, and alchemy systems.
  • Thorough preparation before each stage.
  • Auto-save system (with limitations).

Version 1.2 Update (December 18, 2024): Fixed a bug causing unexpected transitions to the character creation mode. Previous updates addressed typos and minor bugs.
