Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'

Saber Interactive assures fans that all announced games remain in development, despite the silence surrounding high-profile projects like the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. Following the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits tweeted, confirming that all previously discussed projects are actively progressing. He stated, "Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world. We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share.”

The most prominent game affected by this reassurance is the KOTOR remake, a highly anticipated title shrouded in mystery since its 2021 announcement. The project has faced numerous setbacks, including changes in development teams and extended periods of silence. However, in April 2024, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed the project's continued development following the company's split from Embracer Group, stating, "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this...What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations." Beyond KOTOR, Saber Interactive has several other titles in development, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, both slated for 2025 release (though dates remain unannounced).
