New Need For Speed won't come out in the nearest future

EA’s Executive Vice President, Vince Zampella, recently shed light on the current status of the Need for Speed franchise. With NFS Unbound released over two years ago and a noticeable lack of subsequent announcements, many fans are wondering what's next.

The reason for the silence? Criterion Games, the studio behind the Need for Speed series, is currently fully committed to developing the next Battlefield game. Zampella emphasized that EA's top priority is this new Battlefield title, a project involving four studios and a strong focus on incorporating player feedback to avoid repeating the mistakes of the poorly-received Battlefield 2042. This player-centric approach extends to future Need for Speed content as well.

It's highly probable that EA will shift its attention back to Need for Speed only after the launch and initial post-release support of the new Battlefield game. This delay might be beneficial; recent NFS entries haven't entirely satisfied fans.
