Longvinter, after a three-year journey through early access on Steam, has finally reached its 1.0 release! This milestone update, shaped by player feedback and bug fixes, offers a revitalized experience for both veterans and newcomers.
The star of this update is the addition of oil rigs scattered across the archipelago. Players can now extract oil, refine it into fuel, and engage in thrilling battles against LRI mercenaries controlling vital supply lines. Adding to the excitement are new dynamic events: helicopter crashes yielding tactical gear, and an underground arena offering hourly battles for valuable rewards.
The game world itself has expanded, teeming with new wildlife. Lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and even goats now roam the landscape, all tamable as mounts. A wealth of new items awaits, including buff-providing hats, combat vests, an array of weapons and explosives, new kitchen recipes, and interactive building and decorating objects such as oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Weapon balance has also undergone significant adjustments.
Looking to the future, the upcoming 1.1 update promises farming mechanics, a streamlined tutorial, apartment rentals, and the ability to create shared communities. Furthermore, Longvinter is set to launch on PlayStation in 2026, bringing the adventure to a wider audience.
