If you're a fan of *Grand Theft Auto Online*, you might be wondering about its future, especially with the buzz around *GTA 6*. Rest assured, Take-Two Interactive has a clear stance: they're willing to keep legacy titles alive as long as there's player demand. Dive into the details below to see what this means for the future of *GTA Online*.

GTA Online Might Survive After GTA 6’s Launch

Take-Two Will Support GTA Online if There's Demand

The question on many fans' minds is what will happen to *GTA Online* once *GTA 6* hits the scene. While Rockstar Games hasn't given a definitive answer, Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, shed some light on the matter during an IGN interview on February 14, 2025. Zelnick, while cautious not to discuss specific projects prematurely, offered a hopeful perspective. "I'm going to speak theoretically only because I'm not going to talk about a particular project when an announcement hasn't been made," Zelnick explained. "But generally speaking, we support our properties when the consumers are involved with those titles."

He illustrated his point with an example from the *NBA 2K* series. Launched in China back in 2012, followed by a sequel in 2017, both versions continued to be supported due to their massive audiences. "So we've shown a willingness to support legacy titles when a community wants to be engaged with them," Zelnick stated. This suggests that as long as players keep engaging with *GTA Online*, it might remain active even after *GTA 6* launches. Moreover, given *GTA Online*'s financial success over more than a decade, it's hard to imagine Take-Two letting go of such a lucrative asset.

Rockstar Games May Create a Platform like Roblox and Fortnite for GTA 6

In other exciting news, Rockstar is reportedly planning to incorporate user-generated content (UGC) into *GTA 6*'s online version, as per a Digiday report from February 17, 2025. This approach would align *GTA 6* with platforms like Roblox and Fortnite, opening the door for a more personalized gaming experience. According to Digiday, "Rockstar Games has been in discussions with top Roblox and Fortnite creators, as well as dedicated GTA content creators, about the potential to create custom experiences inside the upcoming game." This would empower players to modify and add to the game's assets and environment, crafting a unique visual sandbox experience.

The inclusion of UGC not only promises to expand *GTA 6*'s reach through content creators and modders but also opens up additional revenue streams for Rockstar and Take-Two via virtual item sales and revenue programs. While Rockstar hasn't responded to Digiday's inquiries, the potential for such a move is evident. With *GTA 5* and *GTA Online* still ranking as the third most-watched game on Twitch after 14 years, integrating modders and content creators could significantly amplify *GTA 6*'s online buzz across various platforms.
