A PlayStation studio, recently formed from a group of former Bungie employees, is reportedly developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, this project has undergone a significant shift, moving to a new location and team.
The game, rumored to be in development since at least 2020, is described as a unique departure from Bungie's previous work. Instead of traditional health bars, Gummy Bears will utilize a percentage-based damage system, drawing inspiration from the Super Smash Bros. franchise. High enough damage will knock characters off the map, mirroring the mechanics of Nintendo's fighting game series.
Character classes will follow the standard MOBA formula: Attack, Defense, and Support. Multiple game modes are planned, and the overall aesthetic is described as "cozy, vibrant, and lo-fi," aiming for a younger audience than Bungie's typical player base. While the release date remains uncertain, the game is expected to be years away from launch. The transition to a new PlayStation studio suggests a significant restructuring and a potential reimagining of the game's scope and target audience.
