Scammers are distributing fake invitations to test Elden Ring Nightreign

Bandai Namco has started sending out emails to verify participation in the closed testing of Elden Ring: Nightreign, set to take place from February 14 to 17, 2025. Lucky players selected for the test will be among the first to experience the game, which introduces a new three-person cooperative mode, as detailed in the notification letters.

Given Nightreign's high anticipation, scammers are exploiting the excitement by circulating fake testing invitations. Some gamers have reported receiving emails designed to mimic official Bandai Namco communications, which falsely claim to offer an opportunity to participate in the testing. These deceptive emails often contain links directing to counterfeit websites resembling Steam.

These fraudulent sites prompt users to log in, resulting in the loss of account access. In some instances, victims have received similar scam messages from compromised accounts of their friends. Fortunately, some affected players have successfully regained access to their accounts by reaching out to Steam support.

It's crucial to exercise caution with links and to verify the authenticity of the sources. When in doubt, it's best to consult official channels and avoid clicking on suspicious links.

In related news, Elden Ring: Nightreign will not include the traditional messaging system found in other FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained in an interview that the decision to remove the feature stems from the game's session length, which averages around forty minutes. According to Ishizaki, this duration does not provide sufficient time for players to send or read messages during gameplay.
