Marvel enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the return of Moon Knight to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) may need to adjust their expectations. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, while Oscar Isaac's portrayal of Moon Knight will continue, a second season of the Disney+ show is not on the immediate horizon. This shift in strategy stems from a change in direction at Marvel Television since the release of Moon Knight in 2022.
Previously, Marvel's approach was to introduce characters through their own series, setting the stage for future tie-ins with other projects. A prime example is Kamala Khan, who was introduced in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel before appearing in the film The Marvels. However, the current strategy has evolved to favor a more traditional television format, with annual releases for shows.
Winderbaum elaborated on this change, stating, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."

While fans enjoyed Isaac's voice acting as Moon Knight in the third and final season of the Disney+ animated series Marvel’s What If…?, there has been no confirmation regarding his return in a live-action format.
Looking ahead, the MCU's confirmed upcoming TV show lineup includes Daredevil: Born Again premiering in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December. Meanwhile, last week, Marvel Television reportedly put a hold on the development of three other shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, Winderbaum hinted at exciting prospects, mentioning that the company is exploring opportunities to bring back the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
