GTA Online: Unlock Exclusive Perks with New Subscription Service

Grand Theft Auto Online's latest update sparks controversy by restricting remote business income collection to GTA+ subscribers. The recent Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC, released June 25th, introduced a bounty hunting business and other content. However, a convenient feature allowing players to remotely collect passive income from their various businesses (nightclubs, arcades, etc.) is exclusively available to GTA+ members via the Vinewood Club app.

Since GTA 5's 2013 release, Rockstar Games has consistently expanded GTA Online with substantial updates, often including purchasable businesses. While players previously had to manually collect income from each business, the new update streamlines this process – but only for paying subscribers. This omission for non-subscribers has ignited player backlash.

This move contradicts Rockstar's earlier assurances that gameplay features wouldn't be gated behind the GTA+ subscription, launched in 2022. Negative sentiment surrounding GTA+, amplified by a recent price increase, has intensified with this latest development. Players worry this practice will be repeated, further incentivizing GTA+ subscriptions.

The implications extend beyond GTA 5. The upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 (Fall 2025) raises concerns about the potential integration of GTA+, potentially in an even more significant role. The current negative reception of GTA+ suggests a challenging future for the subscription service, especially if similar practices are adopted in GTA 6's online mode. The reaction of players to this potential scenario remains to be seen.
