God of War Ragnarok 20th Anniversary Update Unveils Dark Odyssey Collection in Patch 06.02

Santa Monica Studio has released the patch notes for the God of War Ragnarök update version 06.02, coinciding with the franchise's 20th anniversary. This update introduces the Dark Odyssey Collection, a tribute to the series' history, featuring new cosmetic options for Kratos, Atreus, and Freya, along with updated appearances for all of God of War's iconic weapons. This collection is available to all players at no additional cost, making it a must-have for fans celebrating the milestone.

The Dark Odyssey Collection draws inspiration from the original working name of God of War (2005) and a special skin from God of War II, available after beating the game on God Mode. The collection includes:

• Dark Odyssey Armor & Appearance for Kratos: Dark Odyssey Kratos Appearance, Dark Odyssey Armor Set (Breastplate, Bracers, Belt).
• Dark Odyssey Companion Armor: Dark Odyssey Vestment for Atreus, Dark Odyssey Witch Frock for Freya.
• Dark Odyssey Weapon Appearances & Attachments: Dark Odyssey Leviathan Axe and Knob, Dark Odyssey Blades of Chaos and Handles, Dark Odyssey Draupnir Spear and Hind.
• Dark Odyssey Shield Appearances & Rönd: Dark Odyssey Guardian Shield, Dauntless Shield, Stone Wall Shield, Shatter Star Shield, Onslaught Shield, and Spartan Aspis Shield.

Note that the weapon appearances are designed for fully upgraded versions and will be accessible once those upgrades are achieved.

In addition to the cosmetic enhancements, this update also introduces the "Edit Appearance" feature. This new customization option allows players to mix and match their favorite looks without compromising the abilities and skills associated with each armor set. Whether you're embarking on your first journey through God of War Ragnarök or revisiting the epic battles against Thor and Odin, this feature enhances your gameplay experience across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.

While the Dark Odyssey Collection adds significant celebratory content, some fans were hoping for modern remasters of the earlier titles in the series. However, no such plans have been announced yet. Still, with additional perks like new merchandise and vinyl releases, Sony continues to show its commitment to keeping God of War fans engaged and entertained.
