The DOOM community's enthusiasm for running the iconic shooter on unconventional platforms continues to grow. Recently, a tech-savvy enthusiast named NyanSatan achieved a remarkable feat by successfully running DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This device, which typically serves as a simple connector, boasts its own firmware based on iOS and a processor capable of reaching up to 168 MHz. NyanSatan accessed the adapter's firmware using a MacBook, as the adapter itself lacks sufficient memory to handle the game independently.
In other exciting DOOM news, the upcoming installment, DOOM: The Dark Ages, promises to offer a highly customizable gaming experience. One of the standout features is the ability to adjust the aggression levels of demons through the game's settings. This adjustment aims to make the shooter more accessible to a broader audience. According to executive producer Marty Stratton, the developers at id Software are focused on enhancing player accessibility. Players will have the flexibility to modify various aspects such as enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, the amount of damage they receive, the game's tempo, the level of aggression, and even parry timing.
Stratton also emphasized that DOOM: The Dark Ages will be a standalone experience, meaning players won't need to have played previous titles to understand its storyline. This approach ensures that both newcomers and long-time fans can enjoy the game without feeling lost in the narrative.
