Flash glucose monitoring has revolutionized diabetes management, and the FreeStyle LibreLink app is at the forefront of this technology. Compatible with both the FreeStyle Libre and FreeStyle Libre 2 system sensors, this app allows you to seamlessly monitor your glucose levels using your smartphone. With the FreeStyle Libre 2, you can also receive alerts for low or high glucose levels, enhancing your ability to manage your condition effectively.[12]
The FreeStyle LibreLink app offers a range of features to help you stay on top of your diabetes management:
- View current glucose readings, trends, and historical data for a comprehensive understanding of your glucose levels.
- Receive alerts for low or high glucose levels when using the FreeStyle Libre 2 system sensors.[2]
- Access detailed reports such as Time in Target Range and Daily Profiles to track your progress and make informed decisions.
- Share your glucose data with your healthcare providers and family members for better support and management.[3]
When using the app alongside the FreeStyle Libre 2 scanner, it's important to note that signals can be sent to either the scanner or your phone, but not both simultaneously. To receive signals on your phone, you need to activate the sensor through the app. Conversely, to use the scanner, you must activate the sensor with the scanner itself. If the sensor is activated using the scanner, you can still scan it with your phone for readings.
Keep in mind that the app and scanner do not communicate with each other. To ensure you receive complete data, scan the sensor with your chosen device every 8 hours. Otherwise, your reports may not include all the necessary information. You can also access and download data from all your devices at LibreView.com.
The FreeStyle LibreLink app is specifically designed for measuring glucose levels in diabetic patients when used with a compatible sensor. For detailed instructions on using the app, refer to the manual accessible through the app itself. If you need a printed copy, contact Abbott Diabetes Care Customer Service.

[1] Remember, while using the FreeStyle LibreLink app, you should also have access to a traditional blood glucose monitoring system, as the app alone does not provide this function.
[2] The alerts you receive do not include actual glucose readings; you must perform a sensor scan to view your glucose levels.
[3] To share your data, you need to register with LibreView for both FreeStyle LibreLink and LibreLinkUp.
