World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm Event Delayed
The highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While Blizzard initially aimed for a launch before the end of January 14th, 2025, no new release time has been announced.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion, was slated to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned deployment, necessitating an extension beyond the initial eight-hour server maintenance period. A community manager confirmed these setbacks, leaving players without a concrete relaunch date.
Plunderstorm Launch Window:
- Before the close of January 14th, 2025, pending resolution of unforeseen technical problems.
In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are operational. Players can engage in other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the game.
The delayed Plunderstorm event was expected to introduce new features, including a Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may have contributed to the technical challenges.
Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops campaign remains active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of World of Warcraft streams on Twitch before February 4th at 10 AM PST. This reward is obtainable regardless of whether the streamer is playing Plunderstorm.
