The Voodoo Doll offers a potentially favorable risk-reward ratio among Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions. While game updates have adjusted its effectiveness, it remains a valuable asset.

Its primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. This is achieved by sequentially inserting pins into the doll. It's particularly useful for evasive or quiet ghosts, prompting actions like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprint displays.

Ten pins can be inserted, each costing 5% of the user's sanity. Inserting all pins depletes 50% sanity, significantly increasing the risk of a ghost hunt.

The most significant risk is the heart pin. Pin insertion is random; hitting the heart pin instantly triggers a Cursed Hunt, reducing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer) ghost hunt near the user's location.

Despite these risks, the potential for gathering crucial evidence makes the Voodoo Doll a worthwhile tool for well-prepared players.

Cursed Possessions (or "Cursed Objects") are unique items randomly spawning across Phasmophobia maps, influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment, which minimizes risk while providing ghost location and evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate ghosts but at a substantially higher risk to the player character.

The risk varies between objects, leaving the decision to use them to the players. There's no penalty for avoiding them, and only one spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
