A Pokémon player is experiencing an unusual level of popularity, or perhaps a glitch, as two NPCs relentlessly bombard them with phone calls. This brief video showcases the player trapped, unable to move, while their in-game phone rings incessantly.
Pokémon Gold and Silver introduced the feature of receiving calls from certain NPCs after battles. These calls can range from friendly updates to rematch requests. However, this player's experience is far from typical.
Pokémon enthusiast, FodderWadder, posted a short video showing themselves cornered in a Pokémon Center. The video begins with a call from Wade the Bug Catcher, detailing his Caterpie training and a recent Pidgey encounter. Before the player can react, Youngster Joey calls, proposing a rematch on Route 30.
The relentless ringing continues. Joey's call repeats, followed immediately by another call from Wade, seemingly repeating his previous message. This cycle persists, creating an inescapable loop of calls.
The cause of this incessant calling remains unclear. While Youngster Joey's calls are known for their repetitive nature, this level of spamming is unusual. FodderWadder suggests a save file glitch might be the culprit. Other players have found the situation humorous, suggesting the NPCs simply enjoy chatting.
Although players can delete numbers in the original games, the automatic answering feature makes escape difficult. FodderWadder eventually broke free, but only after struggling to find a window between calls to access the menu, delete the numbers, and leave the Pokémon Center. This experience, however, has left them hesitant to add new numbers, fearing a repeat of this phone call onslaught.
