Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that numerous aspects of the film are still "being figured out."
This news comes as little surprise to many, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked if production had commenced. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a significant antagonist in the third. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who emerges at the film's conclusion, not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
This Miles' journey differs drastically from the main protagonist's. The radioactive spider bite intended for him instead bit the main timeline's Miles, altering the course of both their lives. With Earth-42's Peter Parker deceased, this Miles' reality fell under the control of supervillains, and he ultimately became one of them.
The details of this alternate Miles' story, and how it will intersect with the main Miles' narrative, will be revealed in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans should brace themselves for a considerable wait, with Deadline suggesting a 2026 release at the earliest, or potentially as late as 2028 if following the previous film's release schedule.
