PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus

Author: Jason Feb 21,2025

Days Gone Remastered's $10 upgrade sparks PS Plus subscriber outrage. While the remastered version for PlayStation 5 was a highlight of Sony's recent State of Play, the $10 upgrade price tag is causing friction. Sony's confirmation that the discounted upgrade is only available to those who purchased the PlayStation 4 version (disc or digital) has left PS Plus subscribers feeling cheated.

Those who acquired Days Gone through PS Plus – including its inclusion in the now-defunct PS Plus Collection and as an Essential monthly game in April 2021 – are ineligible for the discounted upgrade and must pay the full $49.99 price.

This decision has ignited a firestorm of complaints online, particularly on the PlayStation Plus subreddit. Many subscribers express their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade fee, but are now completely skipping the remastered version.

Several comments highlight the potential lost revenue. One user, squarejellyfish_, notes that Sony could have generated significant additional revenue by including PS Plus subscribers in the upgrade offer. Others, like teckn9ne79 and dredizzle99, echo the sentiment, stating they would have paid the $10 but are unwilling to purchase the game at full price. jackanyon95 further criticizes Sony's decision, arguing that the game didn't even necessitate a remaster.

While some understand Sony's likely financially-driven decision, the company is facing criticism for its perceived stinginess. The situation underscores a growing concern among some hardcore PlayStation fans regarding Sony's business practices.
