Overwatch 2 Unveils Exclusive Events in China

Overwatch 2 is set to make a grand return to China on February 19, coinciding with the start of Season 15. This relaunch is a significant event for Chinese players, who will have the opportunity to dive back into the action-packed world of Future Earth. The game's return comes with a host of exciting features, including the chance to earn rewards from Seasons 1 through 9 and special skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology.

In preparation for the relaunch, Overwatch 2 conducted a technical test from January 8 through 15, allowing fans to experience the content they missed, such as Overwatch: Classic and the six new heroes introduced since the servers shut down in China during Season 2. This test was crucial in ensuring a smooth transition back into the game for Chinese players.

Following the technical test, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller shared insights on Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote) about the upcoming celebrations. The multi-week "Return to China" event will feature many of the popular in-game events and rewards missed over the past two years. Chinese players can look forward to earning Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the relaunch, and from Seasons 3 through 9 through in-game events post-relaunch.

Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?

Season 15 of Overwatch 2 is set to introduce skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While details are scarce, it's unclear whether these skins will be new or existing, exclusive to China, or part of a broader Chinese mythology theme similar to the Norse mythology-inspired cosmetics of Season 14. Players won't have to wait long to find out, as Season 15 kicks off on February 18, just before the game's official relaunch in China. More information about the season is expected to be revealed in early February.

In the meantime, global fans can participate in the "Min 1, Max 3" 6v6 test from January 21 through February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Additionally, the Lunar New Year and the Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are slated to occur before Season 15, offering plenty of excitement for players worldwide. While Chinese players may not be able to join these events, they can anticipate their own unique celebrations soon.
