Nintendo's Switch 2 Livestream Met with Price Drop Demands

Nintendo's first post-Switch 2 Nintendo Direct Treehouse livestream is being inundated with a wave of angry comments from users demanding the company to "DROP THE PRICE." A quick look at the YouTube chat during the stream reveals a deluge of complaints about the pricing of Nintendo's transition to the next generation, spotlighting the $449.99 Switch 2 and the particularly contentious $79.99 price tag for Mario Kart World.

While the Nintendo Switch 2 system itself will retail for $449.99, a bundle option is available that includes Mario Kart World for $499.99, offering a $30 savings on the game's price.

But Mario Kart World isn't the only game for the Nintendo Switch 2 priced at $79.99. Other titles, such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, also carry this price point.

Nintendo has faced criticism for charging for the Switch 2 tutorial video game experience, Welcome Tour, which many fans believe should be a free pack-in. For comparison, Astro's Playroom comes pre-installed on every PlayStation 5 console, also serving as a complimentary tech demo for the DualSense controller.

It's likely that Nintendo will continue to face this kind of backlash from the gaming community, increasing pressure on the company to address these concerns.
