Recent reports from Niko Partners, a leading video game market research firm, suggest a mobile version of Final Fantasy XIV is in the works, a joint venture between Square Enix and Tencent. This revelation comes from a list of games approved for release in China by the National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA). The list includes several notable titles, among them a mobile adaptation of the popular MMO.

While the news is exciting, it's crucial to note that neither Square Enix nor Tencent have officially confirmed the project. Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners, citing "mostly industry chatter," tweeted on August 3rd that the mobile FFXIV game is anticipated to be a standalone MMORPG, distinct from the PC version.
