MGS Delta: Snake Eater Retains Original's Suggestive Content, Rating Indicates

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has stirred discussions around its retention of suggestive and sexual content from Metal Gear Solid 3, notably the Peep Demo Theatre, as indicated by an age rating. Although developer Konami has not officially confirmed the inclusion of this controversial feature, the U.S. classification board, the ESRB, has assigned the game a Mature 17+ rating. This rating is due to the game's realistic gunfire, cries of pain, bloody combat, and "suggestive/sexual content."

The ESRB's detailed report on the game highlights its realistic portrayal of combat and violence, including scenes such as a restrained character being beaten and electrocuted, a character shot in the eye, and another on fire being shot multiple times. Furthermore, the ESRB notes specific instances of suggestive/sexual content: "a man groping a woman's breasts; close-up camera angles of deep cleavage; a character briefly groping a man's crotch; a Peep Demo Theatre allowing players to view cutscenes of a female character's body from a first-person perspective."

The Peep Demo Theatre is a notable unlockable feature originally found in the Subsistance and HD Collection versions of Metal Gear Solid 3. It allows players, as Snake, to maneuver the camera and zoom in during a cutscene featuring Eva in her underwear. This feature is unlocked after completing the game four times.

Konami has officially announced that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28. Alongside this announcement, a new teaser trailer was released, confirming the return of the beloved Snake vs. Monkey minigame.
