Metaphor Teams Up for RPG Series

Hashino, when discussing the studio's future, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino confirmed there are currently no plans for a direct sequel. His focus remains on completing the current project, a game originally conceived as the third major JRPG series following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. He aims for Metaphor: ReFantazio to become a flagship Atlus title.

While a sequel is unlikely, the team is already working on their next project. However, an anime adaptation is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has already achieved significant success, boasting the highest concurrent player count for an Atlus game launch to date, exceeding 85,961 players. This surpasses the concurrent player counts of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
