The new best Marvel Rivals hero is a surprise due to stats

NetEase Games revamped the hero balance in Marvel Rivals' Season 1 (January), significantly buffing underplayed characters like Storm and Black Widow to enhance gameplay and boost their popularity.

Storm's post-update surge is undeniable. Rivals Meta data shows her now boasting the highest win rate, a meteoric rise from her previous obscurity. In competitive play, her win percentage surpasses 56%, and her pick rate has skyrocketed to 16%, a stark contrast to her near-zero presence before the update. This impressive performance has propelled her ahead of popular heroes like Adam Warlock, Jeff, Spider-Man, Hela, Hulk, Magik, and Iron Man.

While Storm dominates, the Cloak and Dagger duo remains the most popular character pairing, although their win rate has dipped below 49%. Black Widow, however, continues to struggle, remaining the least picked and least successful character.

Marvel Rivals is experiencing significant growth, with hundreds of thousands of players engaging in competitive matches. The Grandmaster title remains an exclusive achievement, attainable by only 0.1% of players, despite the existence of the Celestial rank.

One player achieved an extraordinary feat during Season 1: reaching Grandmaster rank without suffering any damage across 108 games! Their strategy? Playing as Rocket Raccoon and focusing solely on healing teammates. This resulted in over 2.9 million health points restored and nearly 3,500 assists, all while avoiding a single knockout.
