Gandhi DLC for Civ 7 Could Be on the Way

Civ 7 Developers Hint at Gandhi's Return as DLC

Excitement is building among fans of the Civilization series as the developers of Civ 7 have hinted at the potential return of the beloved leader, Gandhi. In a recent IGN interview with lead designer Ed Beach on February 13, 2025, it was revealed that while Gandhi did not make the cut for the initial roster of leaders in Civ 7, there's still a chance he could return as downloadable content (DLC).

Hope for Gandhi and Other Past Civilization Leaders

Beach emphasized that the team at Firaxis Games hasn't forgotten about any past civilizations or leaders. "So I would say we haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before," Beach stated. This statement comes amidst concerns from the community about the absence of iconic civilizations such as Great Britain or England in the initial lineup of Civ 7.

The decision to exclude certain civilizations and leaders, including Britain and India, was driven by the need to introduce fresh and exciting content while managing the vast number of popular choices. "There're just too many popular choices and we always want to have a few fresh ones that sound really new and exciting to people," Beach explained. He further reassured fans by saying, "So things are getting left behind, but we always are looking at the big picture, when we're going to bring leaders or civs into the fold. So there's hope for Gandhi, yet."

Given the extensive list of DLCs released for Civ 6, it seems likely that Gandhi will eventually make his way back into Civ 7. However, the exact timeline for his return remains uncertain. Fans of the series will need to stay tuned for further announcements from Firaxis Games as they continue to develop and expand the world of Civilization 7.
