Wolcen Studio has revealed Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat RPG blending the high-stakes thrill of extraction shooter mechanics with deep RPG combat. A closed alpha test begins January 25th for European players, followed by North American players on February 1st.
"We've combined the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the dynamic combat of an RPG," explains game director Andrei Cirkulete. The result? A compelling experience drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. The team eagerly anticipates player feedback.
Players assume the role of a Death's Messenger, striving to restore order to a shattered world. They'll face both AI and player opponents across diverse maps. Successful extractions preserve hard-earned trophies, while failure means losing all loot.
Project Pantheon offers extensive customization, allowing players to build their own bases, personalize equipment, and experiment with various playstyles. The game's world draws inspiration from global mythologies, with player trading forming the core of its economy.
The initial adventure unfolds in "Destiny's Edge," a region reminiscent of Scandinavian legends. Despite being in early alpha, the developers are committed to active community involvement to shape the game's development.
