Bloober Team Inks Konami Deal: New Game Announced

Bloober Team, fresh off the success of their Silent Hill 2 remake, has announced a new partnership with Konami to develop a game based on one of Konami's iconic IPs. While neither company has revealed the title or franchise, Bloober's expertise in horror and the remake's impressive 2 million sales strongly suggest another entry in the Silent Hill universe. Konami will act as both publisher and rights holder for this mysterious new project.

Konami, a legendary name in gaming, sought a partner to revitalize one of its most iconic franchises—Silent Hill. Bloober Team was chosen for our expertise in horror and atmospheric storytelling. Our partnership began in 2021, culminating in the October 2022 announcement of our Silent Hill 2 remake during the Silent Hill Transmission livestream. The remake, widely considered one of the best psychological horror games, was incredibly well-received, achieving an 86/100 on Metacritic and an 88/100 on OpenCritic, along with numerous awards, including Game of the Year 2024 from IGN Japan and Best Horror Game of the Year from the IGN Community Awards.

The Silent Hill 2 remake's success solidified our partnership, leading to this new agreement. This aligns perfectly with Bloober Team's strategic plan for internal development expansion within a first-party framework. Our collaboration with Konami has been incredibly productive, and the success of Silent Hill 2 speaks volumes. We've shared knowledge and experience to create high-quality productions. The Silent Hill 2 remake, released October 8, 2024, on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam (with no Xbox Series X|S version announced yet), sold one million copies within days of launch. While potentially the fastest-selling Silent Hill game ever, Konami is yet to confirm this record. IGN awarded the remake an 8/10, stating: “Silent Hill 2 is a great way to visit – or revisit – one of the most dread-inducing destinations in the history of survival horror.”
