Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's global server is shutting down. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games announced the end of service (EOS) for the global version of their RPG, just over a year after its January 2024 launch. The Japanese version, launched in September 2023, remains unaffected and is even preparing for its 1.5th-anniversary celebration in March 2025.
Atelier Resleriana EOS Date
Ironically, the global server's shutdown date, March 28th, 2025, coincides with the Japanese version's 1.5th anniversary. Global players will conclude their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1), while Japanese players will be progressing through Chapter 22 (Part 2).
In-game purchases are already disabled, but players can still utilize any remaining Lodestar Gems until the shutdown. Koei Tecmo promises new content and events leading up to the closure. The global version's first anniversary was celebrated on January 25th, 2025, making the announcement particularly bittersweet.
Reasons for Shutdown
The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory standard for global players as the reason for the shutdown. The game struggled to gain traction, with player complaints surfacing about the gacha system and power creep almost immediately after launch. While the main characters were well-received, the gameplay and monetization aspects ultimately failed to attract and retain a sufficient player base.
The game is still available on the Google Play Store for those wishing to experience the final days. For those seeking a new mobile gaming adventure, consider checking out the current Sky: Children of the Light Lunar New Year 2025 event.
