ZhiZhu!, a modern take on the classic Nine Men's Morris, offers a challenging and engaging gameplay experience. This Spider-themed version introduces strategic depth, pitting players against each other in a battle to capture opponent's pieces. Available online or offline against an AI opponent, ZhiZhu! features five difficulty levels ranging from Beginner to Pro.
Gameplay Overview:
ZhiZhu! utilizes a unique spiderweb board where players maneuver their nine spiders to create chains. The objective is to capture your opponent's spiders by forming chains: a "Small Chain" (three spiders aligned on a straight line) captures one spider, while a "Big Chain" (five spiders aligned on a circle) captures two.
The game unfolds in two phases:
- Placement Phase: Players take turns placing their spiders on the board. Chains formed during this phase immediately result in captures.
- Sliding Phase: Once all spiders are placed, players slide one spider at a time to an adjacent empty space. Creating chains during this phase also leads to captures.
Winning the Game:
Victory is achieved by capturing seven of your opponent's spiders. Alternatively, a win is awarded if the opponent concedes defeat.
Key Rules and Considerations:
- Capturing is only possible if the captured spider isn't already part of an existing chain (unless no loose spiders remain).
- Re-creating a chain with the same spiders in the same locations does not result in further captures. A new spider must be involved in the chain formation.
