Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana presents players with numerous challenging boss encounters, and the first, Dularn, the Creeping Shadow, often proves a significant hurdle. This initial boss fight represents a substantial difficulty increase, frequently requiring multiple attempts before players achieve victory. However, understanding Dularn's attack patterns significantly shortens the battle.
How to Defeat Dularn in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
The fight begins with Dularn encased in a protective barrier, rendering him invulnerable. The key is to survive his attacks until the barrier dissipates, creating an opportunity to inflict damage. Dularn's health varies depending on the chosen difficulty. While players can retreat to regain strength, defeating Dularn is mandatory to progress. Avoid contact with the barrier, as it inflicts damage.
Dularn's Sword Attacks
Dularn utilizes summoned swords in various attack patterns:
- Overhead Assault: Swords descend from above, striking downwards.
- X-Formation: Swords form an X-shape before homing in on the player.
- Linear Thrust: A straight line of swords advances toward the player.
To counter these attacks, while the barrier is active, strategically circle Dularn to evade the first two patterns. Jumping is crucial for avoiding all sword attacks.
Once the barrier drops, unleash a flurry of attacks. Dularn will teleport after taking significant damage. Maintain distance upon his reappearance, as he will re-establish the barrier.
Dularn's Projectile Attacks
Dularn employs two projectile attacks:
Fireballs
Evade the fireballs by moving between them or jumping over individual projectiles. Combining movement and jumping maximizes your chances of avoiding damage.
Arching Slash
This large blue slash requires a precise jump to avoid. It often coincides with opportunities to damage Dularn, serving as a timing cue for your attacks.
Mastering Dularn's attack patterns is key to victory; grinding for higher levels isn't necessary.
Rewards for Vanquishing Dularn in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
