Conquering Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively introduces challenging bosses, enhancing player understanding of game mechanics. While not excessively long, the game features several demanding encounters. Gyalva, the Lord of the Blazing Prison, requires a solid grasp of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.
Defeating Gyalva
- Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Health (Normal): 1200
Following Guilen's defeat, players navigate the Zone of Lava to confront Gyalva. The key strategy is to fight from either end of the unstable bridge.
Limited movement options necessitate tactical positioning. The bridge's platforms are frequently disrupted by Gyalva's attacks. Players should repeatedly jump to engage Gyalva, utilizing wind magic for maximum damage output within limited timeframes. Mastering this rhythm is crucial for victory.
Gyalva's Attacks
Gyalva, a unique boss not present in the original Ys III, employs diverse attacks capable of inflicting significant damage. The fight's simplicity belies its potential for rapid health depletion. Gyalva moves along the bridge, often launching sections into the air with fiery assaults.
Adequate preparation is recommended. Aim for at least level 21 and upgrade Adol's equipment. Consistent enemy defeat throughout the game should facilitate this.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva executes two spinning attacks:
- A partial bridge traversal, sending impacted platforms airborne. Evade by moving to either side of the affected area.
- A full bridge traversal, flipping all platforms. Safety lies only on the bridge's ledges.
Avoid the bridge's very edge to prevent cornering. Instead, strategically move along the bridge, attacking Gyalva before retreating to a ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches fireballs, propelling platforms upward. While damaging, this attack provides an opportunity to land several strikes against Gyalva.
Bursting Torches
Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball's transit between torches. These bursts inflict damage. Timing is key; wait for the burst to subside before moving.
