The PMRC Rondo Cup 2025, the latest PUBG Mobile esports tournament, concluded this past weekend with team Yangon Galacticos emerging as the champions. Their victory earned them the lion's share of the $20,000 prize pool, marking a significant achievement in the competitive PUBG Mobile scene.

The tournament unfolded on PUBG's newest and largest map to date, Rondo. This map hosted 16 teams that had qualified through various tournaments, including D'Xavier at PMSL SEA Spring, Rangers at PMCL Spring, and R3GICIDE at PMSL CSA Fall. The competition was fierce, showcasing the high level of skill and strategy among the participants.

Yangon Galacticos secured their win under the newly introduced SMASH format rules. According to these rules, a team needed to accumulate over 30 points and then secure a victory in a separate match to claim the title. However, after six matches, no team met these criteria, leading to Yangon Galacticos being declared the winner due to their overwhelming points lead.

The tournament also saw HORAA Esports and Bigetron Esports securing the second and third positions, respectively, underscoring the success of the Rondo Cup and PUBG Mobile's ambitious esports initiatives that have been gaining momentum since 2024.

Interestingly, the first tournament to implement the SMASH rule did not see a winner through this method, raising questions about its future use. Whether the SMASH format will return in future tournaments will depend on the organizers' assessment of its impact on promoting skilled and entertaining gameplay.
