Nintendo Switch 2 Features the New C Button
Functionality Will Be Revealed During the Direct
The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch in 2025, and with a Nintendo Direct scheduled for today, April 2nd, anticipation is reaching fever pitch. Nintendo may have already given fans a sneak peek at what to expect from the Switch 2 ahead of the Direct, particularly with the introduction of a new feature.
Nintendo has recently launched a new smartphone app called Nintendo Today, designed to deliver the latest news and game information directly to players. Observant fans noticed that the app's listings on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store included promotional images, one of which prominently featured the text: "Get updates on Nintendo Switch 2 news plus game info, videos, comics, and more every day."
Upon closer examination, the image showcasing the Nintendo Switch 2 appears to reveal the final design of the console, complete with redesigned Joycons and the confirmation of a mysterious C button on the right Joycon.
In the initial teaser for the Switch 2 back in January, the new button located beneath the Home button was merely a black square without any labeling, sparking speculation about its purpose—whether it would be a new social feature or a sensor. However, the final design showcased in the Nintendo Today app confirms it as a C button. While its specific function remains a mystery, fans won't have to wait long, as more details are expected to be unveiled during the upcoming Nintendo Direct.
