The Switch 2 Nintendo Direct Now Has a Time as Well as a Date

The Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct is set for Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025, at 6 AM PT (9 AM ET, 2 PM UK time). This Direct promises a closer look at the Switch 2, following its brief unveiling last month. That initial reveal showcased the console's design, hinted at Mario Kart 9, and teased a potential "mouse" mode for the new Joy-Con controllers.

However, many questions remain unanswered. What's the purpose of the mysterious new Joy-Con button? What's the console's processing power? And what are the new ports for?

The Direct is expected to reveal the full Switch 2 launch lineup, a release date (rumored to be between June and September 2025), and hopefully, the console's price (analysts predict around $400).

Speculation about the Switch 2's game library is growing. A significant number of third-party titles are rumored to be in development. Firaxis, the developer of Civilization 7, described the Joy-Con mouse mode as "definitely intriguing" in an interview with IGN. Nacon, a publisher of titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, confirmed it has Switch 2 games ready for release. Hollow Knight: Silksong is also rumored for the platform. Furthermore, EA recently suggested that Madden, FIFA, and The Sims would be well-suited to the Switch 2.
