Two prominent theories are circulating: the studio could house a spin-off team from Bungie, stemming from the July 2024 layoffs where 155 Bungie employees transitioned to Sony Interactive Entertainment, or it could be the team led by Jason Blundell.

Blundell, a veteran Call of Duty developer, co-founded Deviation Games, a studio shuttered in March 2024. However, a significant number of Deviation Games employees joined PlayStation in May 2024 under Blundell's leadership, suggesting a potential continuation of their previous AAA project.

Given the timeline, Blundell's team is a more likely candidate to occupy the new Los Angeles studio. While details remain scarce, the prospect of a new PlayStation first-party game is exciting news for fans, even if an official announcement might be years away.
