The speculation began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to a cake, leading fans to theorize about potential announcements or an ARG related to Silksong, including rumors of a release on the Nintendo Switch 2. However, YouTuber fireb0rn, after reaching out to Griffin, clarified that Pellen's post was simply a "nothingburger"—a harmless change with no deeper meaning. Fireb0rn humorously apologized for the confusion, tweeting, "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie."
