RuneScape: Dragonwilds has made a stunning announcement by launching into early access. During a special livestream on April 16, developer Jagex revealed that the game is now accessible on Steam. This move came shortly after the game's first trailer was released, leaving fans both shocked and excited. The game was first teased in 2022, with alpha testing signups starting in late 2024 for a "new survival game set in the RuneScape universe." The official reveal as RuneScape: Dragonwilds happened on March 31, 2025.

Estimated Official Release Date in Early 2026

Jagex aims to fully release Dragonwilds in early 2026. The developers emphasized their commitment to delivering a polished and engaging experience, saying, "We want to spend the time to get everything right to ensure our players have a complete, satisfying experience that they’ll want to revisit with friends time and again."

Jesse America, Jagex's Executive Producer, highlighted that Dragonwilds represents a fresh take on the RuneScape universe, tailored for its dedicated fanbase. He added, "Throughout Early Access, we’ll be updating the game regularly with new content and features, while closely listening to the community to deliver an iconic open world survival crafting game that is loved equally by our biggest RuneScape fans and new players alike."

Early Access Roadmap Revealed

Jagex shared an exciting early access roadmap, giving players a glimpse into the future of Dragonwilds. A highlight is the introduction of Fellhollow, a new region teetering between life and death, ruled by the soul-eater dragon Imaru. This area is influenced by the wild anima of Ashenfall and the cursed energy of the Underworld, with the iconic RuneScape character Death guiding players through new quests, lore, gear, and music. New skills for magic, ranged, and farming will also be introduced.

Players can look forward to battling new Lesser Dragons, equipping new dragon slayer gear, and exploring hardcore and creative modes. While specific update dates haven't been set, Jagex promises ongoing enhancements to enrich the gameplay experience.

Early adopters of Dragonwilds during its early access phase will receive exclusive in-game rewards. As outlined on the game's Steam page, "Early Adopters" will be granted the following:
