V Rising, the vampire survival game, has achieved a remarkable milestone: exceeding 5 million units sold! Stunlock Studios, the developer, celebrated this achievement and announced ambitious plans for a major 2025 update.
This update promises to significantly expand the game, introducing a new faction, enhanced PvP options, and a wealth of additional content. Key features include a revamped progression system incorporating ancient technology, a new crafting station enabling players to optimize endgame gear through stat bonuses, and a substantial expansion of the game world. A new northern region, beyond Silverlight, will challenge players with tougher enemies and bosses.
The success of V Rising, initially released in early access in 2022 and fully launched in 2024, is a testament to its engaging combat, exploration, and base-building mechanics. Its PS5 release in June 2024 further broadened its reach. Stunlock Studios CEO, Rickard Frisegard, highlighted the 5 million sales figure as a reflection of the strong community built around the game, fueling the team's commitment to ongoing development and innovation. The 2025 update, according to Frisegard, will "redefine" the V Rising experience.
A preview of some of the new PvP features, including safer duel and arena options (preventing blood type loss on death), was showcased in November's update 1.1. With the upcoming expansion and improvements, V Rising is poised for continued growth and success in 2025.
