The eagerly awaited Ratatan gameplay trailer, showcased during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, offers fans an exciting glimpse into the game's mechanics. Developed by Ratatan Works, this trailer highlights the thrilling battle against a colossal boss crab, immersing viewers in the heart of the action.

Ratatan masterfully blends rhythm roguelike elements with side-scrolling action, creating an engaging gameplay experience. A standout feature is the support for up to 4-player online co-op, allowing for cooperative play with friends. The game also boasts the ability to control up to 100 characters in epic melee battles, promising a dynamic and chaotic battlefield.

Guided by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and featuring music by the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan has successfully met its console launch stretch goal on Kickstarter in 2023, ensuring its availability on various gaming platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

Ratatan's closed beta is scheduled to kick off on February 27, 2025, as announced on their Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates about the game's progress, including surpassing 100,000 wishlists on Steam and receiving positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo.

While the game will not be featured at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is fully committed to enhancing the demo for the June festival. The closed beta will initially include gameplay up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 being added progressively over the month-long test period. Sakajiri emphasized that details regarding code distribution, start dates, and times will be shared via Discord and X once finalized.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Although an exact release date has yet to be announced, anticipation continues to build for this promising successor to the beloved Patapon series.
