Rare WoW Mounts Get Colorful Twist

Exclusive WoW Mounts: Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and Golden Ashes of Al'ar Arrive in China

Two new, China-exclusive mounts are soaring into World of Warcraft: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These stunning mounts, reimagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, will be available through special promotions starting January 15th.

These additions mark another exciting development following the successful return of World of Warcraft to China after Blizzard and NetEase renewed their partnership. Previous celebrations included the unveiling of a Lighforged Gorehowl statue and the introduction of the teleporting Xiao Liu pet.

The Mounts:

  • Blazing Royal Fire Hawk: A visually striking update to the Pureblood Fire Hawk, this mount features auspicious clouds (xiangyun) within its wings while in flight. These clouds, symbolic of peace, immortality, and good fortune in Chinese culture, add a unique and culturally significant element.

  • Golden Ashes of Al'ar: A regal, gilded version of the Ashes of Al'ar, this phoenix mount boasts a stylish black saddle and evocative flavor text referencing Kael'thas Sunstrider's iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."

Acquisition:

The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk will be obtainable through a "Treasure Workshop" event, details of which are yet to be fully revealed. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, however, can be acquired from Landro's Loot Box, priced at ¥200 (approximately $27 USD). Each box contains one of eight items, including other coveted rewards such as the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the extremely rare Swift Spectral Tiger (from the discontinued WoW TCG). Group purchasing offers bonus crates based on spending milestones.

International Availability:

Currently, there's no indication these mounts will be released outside of China. While not impossible, players in other regions will, for now, have to appreciate these majestic mounts from afar.
