Pokémon fans anticipating news about Switch 2 Pokémon titles during the upcoming Pokémon Presents on February 27th may be disappointed. While leaks suggest an imminent Switch 2 reveal, Pokémon games will reportedly remain exclusive to the original Switch console for the foreseeable future.

The February 27th presentation will likely focus on Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Although Nintendo has confirmed the existence of a backward-compatible Switch successor, details remain scarce, with current knowledge primarily sourced from leaks describing a performance-enhanced iteration of the original Switch.

Upcoming Pokémon titles are expected to launch on the original Switch. Industry insider Jeff Grubb indicates that the upcoming Pokémon Presents will showcase games developed for the original Switch, leveraging the new console's backward compatibility. This includes updates on existing live-service titles like Pokémon GO and Pokémon Trading Card Game Live, as well as further details on Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s reveal trailer showcased a Lumiose City setting, returning Pokémon, and the return of Mega Evolutions. Speculation also points to another mainline Pokémon game launching this year, possibly Pokémon Black and White remakes or a new Let's Go installment. These, too, are expected to release on the original Switch.

This aligns with the Pokémon franchise's historical tendency to prioritize consoles with larger install bases. Similar to the release of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 on the original DS, the series might follow a similar strategy with the Switch 2. Therefore, the first Pokémon titles exclusive to the Switch 2 may well be the Generation 10 games.
