Hyper Light Breaker Multiplayer Guide: Conquer the Darkness with Friends

Hyper Light Breaker, the 3D rogue-lite successor to Hyper Light Drifter, introduces a compelling multiplayer mode. This guide details how to team up with friends or join random online groups.

Playing with Friends in Hyper Light Breaker

To play co-op with friends, you'll need to create a private multiplayer room. In the Cursed Outpost hub, approach the counter to the left of Pherus Bit.

Interact with the counter (typically R1 or RB) to access the Multiplayer menu. Select "Create Breaker Team."

Enable "Password Required" and set a password. Invite up to two friends via your platform's social features (PSN, Xbox, Steam supported). The game supports three-player teams.

Friends can join via the invitation or, if they're already in-game, through the "Invitations" tab. Alternatively, your team might appear in the "Join Breaker Team" list. Ensure your friends know the password.

Random Online Matchmaking

For solo players, Hyper Light Breaker offers public matchmaking. In the Multiplayer menu:

Select "Join Breaker Team."

Scroll down and choose "Join Random Public Breaker Team."

The game will find an available public team (no password required) and place you in their session.

To leave a multiplayer session, return to the counter in the Cursed Outpost, open the Multiplayer menu, and select the "Disconnect" option (appears only when in a session). Alternatively, you can quit the game.
