Netflix Stories Cancelled, Still Playable!

Netflix has officially announced the closure of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, signaling the end of a brief but notable experiment in narrative gaming. The decision might come as a surprise to many, given the solid player base these games had cultivated. So, what led to the cancellation of Netflix Stories? Let's delve into the details!

The news, initially reported by Variety, is part of a larger strategic pivot at Netflix Games. The company is now steering its focus towards mobile titles that include party games, games for kids, mainstream releases, and more interactive experiences designed for TV play.

Despite this shift, Boss Fight Entertainment, the creative force behind the Netflix Stories series, will continue to collaborate with Netflix on other projects, including the much-anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.

Netflix Stories Gets Cancelled, So Is It Shutting Down?

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Netflix Stories consistently ranked among the top-played games on the Netflix platform. Recent data indicates it holds the fourth spot in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, which ranks games based on playtime rather than downloads.

As for the future of the series, the final interactive title to be released under the Netflix Stories banner will be Love Is Blind: NYC. After its launch, no further games will be developed within this series. This announcement comes shortly after the Netflix Stories app began teasing its next project, The Love Contract, which was slated for an April 8th release. Unlike its predecessors, The Love Contract was not based on any existing Netflix IP but was an original romance narrative centered around an actress navigating the complexities of fame, scandal, and fake dating. Unfortunately, this game has now been canceled.

Although no new games will be added to the Netflix Stories lineup, the existing titles such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter's Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple will remain accessible to players. However, anticipated sequels such as Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have also been canceled.

That's the latest on Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows, you can still enjoy these games via the Google Play Store.
