Player First Games announced the upcoming closure of MultiVersus, its Warner Bros. platform fighter. Season 5, launching February 4th, will be the game's last, concluding May 30th, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. Online play will cease at that time, but offline access to all acquired content (via local and training modes) will remain.
The studio shared this news via a blog post, expressing gratitude to the MultiVersus community for their support. The announcement was also made via Twitter:

Real-money transactions are immediately discontinued, but Gleamium and character tokens can still be used until May 30th. The game will be delisted from PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store concurrently.
This closure follows reports of MultiVersus' underperformance, contributing to a significant $100 million writedown for Warner Bros. Discovery's games division (adding to a $300 million total including the impact of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League). This news also comes after the departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad. As CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels stated in a November financial call: "We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business..."
Despite the shutdown, Season 5 will include new content, notably the addition of playable characters Lola Bunny (unlockable via daily calendar) and Aquaman (available through the battle pass), ensuring a final, action-packed season for players.
