Dusk: A New Mobile Multiplayer App Aims to Capitalize on the Trend

Dusk, a newly funded mobile multiplayer app from entrepreneurs Bjarke Felbo and Sanjay Guruprasad, is aiming to make a splash in the booming mobile multiplayer market. This social platform allows users to quickly and easily play games and team up with friends.

Felbo and Guruprasad's previous venture, the Rune companion app for PUBG and Call of Duty Mobile, boasts five million installs before its closure, demonstrating their experience in the mobile gaming space. While Dusk is a significantly different project, this past success hints at their potential.

Dusk acts as a game creation platform, offering a selection of custom-made games playable directly within the app. Think of it as a streamlined version of Xbox Live or Steam, but focused on games specifically designed for Dusk. Users can easily connect with friends and chat while playing.

The Key Challenge: Game Selection

The primary concern is Dusk's reliance on its own library of custom-made games. While some titles, such as mini-golf and 3D racing, show promise, they lack the established brand recognition of many popular mobile games.

However, Dusk possesses a significant advantage: cross-play functionality across browsers, iOS, and Android. With other social platforms like Discord integrating games, Dusk's simple, lightweight approach could prove attractive to users seeking a convenient way to play with friends. Only time will tell if this strategy will succeed.
