Minecraft's latest Java Snapshot, 25w06a, introduces exciting new chicken variants! This guide details how to locate and breed these feathered friends.
Locating Minecraft Chicken Variants
Warm Chickens: These yellow and orange chickens reside in warmer biomes. Look in: Badlands, Bamboo Jungle, Eroded Badlands, Jungle, Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Sparse Jungle, Windswept Savanna, and Wooded Badlands.
Cold Chickens: Sporting blue feathers, these chickens are found exclusively in cold biomes: Old Growth Pine Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Taiga, Windswept Forest, Windswept Gravelly Hills, and Windswept Hills.
Temperate Chickens: These are the classic white chickens, now renamed "Temperate Chickens," and inhabit all biomes not classified as warm or cold.
Taming Chickens
Unlike some other mobs, chickens aren't traditionally tamed. Instead, feed them seeds to encourage them to follow you. Guide them to a secure enclosure. Remember, long journeys back to your base can be risky, especially at night. Consider establishing temporary holding areas along the way.
Breeding Chickens
To breed chickens, feed two of the same variant seeds to produce an egg of that type. For a surprise, feed seeds to two different variants; the resulting egg will hatch into a random chicken type.
